Peacock, US news sites and a US IP
Peacock streams only to devices located in the US. And in 2018 a third of the top US news sites closed to EU readers rather than deal with GDPR.

Peacock and the news
| Service | With a US address | What it won’t fix |
|---|---|---|
| Peacock | Its help centre says your device must be in the US to stream. Without a US address you don’t get past that. | Streaming services look for data-centre addresses and may refuse one they recognise. |
| US news sites | When GDPR took effect in May 2018, publishers including the Chicago Tribune, the New York Daily News and the Dallas Morning News blocked readers in the EU. If a US site says it isn’t available in your country, open it over the USA tile. | Paywalls stay where they are. |
Connecting to the USA
Type “USA” into Search, then tap the tile. It isn’t labelled “United States”, so the full name finds nothing.

News sites and US banks
I’m not in the EU. Do US news sites block me too?
The 2018 blocks were aimed at readers in the EU, where GDPR applies. If a site opens for you as normal, you don’t need the USA tile for it.
I live abroad. Will my US bank work over the US address?
We can’t promise that. Each bank runs its own checks, and we don’t know how yours treats a VPN address. If the bank works on your normal connection and only objects while Bebra is on, add its domain under Tunnel → Manual and reconnect. The bank then sees your usual connection, and everything else still goes through the US.
